Quick Words

God will come to you
Jeremiah 29:10 This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. We all know the wonderful verse in Jeremiah 29:11 that God wants to give us a hope and a future. But few of us know the verse before. God promises the hope and the future however he advises Jeremiah that the people need to wait 70 years for it.

Wherever you are at this time, remember God has promised you a hope and a future however you need to wait for it.

I believe that your breakthrough will come, just be patient, God is never late ! The trouble is that I'm in a hurry, but God isn't

God's word is settled
In our recent trips to India my wife and I were amazed at the tremendous faith that our persecuted brothers and sisters have. Despite their trials and dangers to their lives they still press on with boldness for the Lord. When asked if they were afraid they often quoted Scriptures that testified of their strong faith in Jesus.

They didn’t allow the persecution they faced for one moment to hinder their walk with God.

Being around them strengthened our faith and strangely brought to memory a bumper sticker I came across some time back that said: God said it, I believe it and that settles it.

I thought that sounded nice at that time until I heard apologist RC Sproul explain how theologically incorrect that statement was, God said it I believe it and that settles it.

He explained that it should be just “God said it and that settles it”.

Because you believe what God said doesn’t determine if it is settled. God’s word is already settled as

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
I like really that, “It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please”
Not what pleases you and I, but what pleases God.

So my question for you is what are you waiting on God’s word for today? Is it healing, provision, strength, protection? It may not happen as you desire today or tomorrow but keep being patient and obedient because His word doesn’t return void, but accomplishes what He purposes for it.

Sometimes it may not be what we are wanting, but it could still be in God’s purpose for our lives as

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a mans heart but it is God’s purpose that prevails.

God may have something else better in store for you, so the next time you feel as if God’s not responding the way you want Him to? Know that His purpose for you is not exempt of trials because that is what He uses to shape our character.

Romans 8:28 All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

Watch your words
Proverbs 18:21- Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

The dire current world economic situation is being likened to the 1930’s depression or even worse. Looking back at the time of the 1930’s depression, a startling observation was made. Many people at that time described themselves with words of being crippled or handicapped by the economy. What ensued was one of the world’s worst outbreak’s of polio? Be careful what words you confess out of your mouth!

Jesus tells us that “By our words we are both justified or condemned” in Matthew 12.

What words are you confessing over your current situation? Are they words of life or death? Are they words taken from the 6 o’ clock news or what the newspapers are saying? God’s Word tells us that we have the power of life and death in our tongue so let’s choose to affirm God’s Word over our lives and proclaim his promise of abundant life over us.

I don’t deny that there is turmoil currently in the economy but declare that “My God shall supply all my need according to His riches and Glory” (Philippians 4:19). Don’t allow yourself to be consumed by all the negativity from the world. Don’t use words to describe your situation, use words to change it.

You can change your environment by speaking God’s word of victory and triumph. Maybe it is hard for you to see your breakthrough or answer to prayer, maybe you have been holding on for your victory for a long time, but be patient. By faith continue to believe God’s Word that “He can do exceedingly, abundantly and above all that we can imagine or think according to the power working within you” (Ephesians 3:20).

Remember “Tough times don’t last, tough people do” – Tough people that fill themselves with God’s Word. These hard times that you may be facing will all come to pass. Heaven and earth will fade away but His Word remains forever.

So the next time you get tempted to use words to describe your situation think of the power of life and death that God has placed in your tongue. Choose to speak life and enjoy the fruits of it.
